The Do's and Don'ts of Posting Great Social Media Content

When it comes to social media content, there are a few key things to keep in mind if you want to ensure that your content is as effective as possible. First and foremost amongst these is the need to maintain focus by using content pillars.

Pillars are the topics that you want to be known for, and every piece of content you produce should tie back into one (or more) of these pillars in some way. This helps to keep your content focused and on-brand, which is essential for social media success

Make sure to check out my other blog post, "Why You Need Content Pillars for Your Social Media Strategy" if you want a deep dive into what content pillars are and how they can help create an effective social media strategy.

Now, without further ado, let's take a look at some dos and don'ts of content pillar usage for social media.

Do: Keep your content pillars relevant to your target audience.

Content pillars that are most relevant to your target audience is one of the best ways to ensure that your content will be well-received. After all, if your content isn't interesting or useful to your audience, there's a good chance that they won't bother with it at all.

Don't: Post content that is off-topic or unrelated to your content pillars.

One of the quickest ways to lose followers is to post content that strays too far from your content pillars. If you're constantly posting content that is only tangentially related to what your audience is interested in, you'll likely find that they tune out pretty quickly.

Do: Make sure your content is engaging and interesting.

Even if your content is relevant to your content pillars, it won't matter much if it isn't interesting or engaging. If you want people to stick around and keep coming back for more, make sure that your content is something that they'll actually enjoy reading or viewing.

Don't: Bore your audience with content that is dry or uninteresting.

As I just mentioned, it's important to make sure that your content is engaging and interesting. That being said, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. If you find yourself posting content that is overly long, complex, or just plain boring, you can be sure that your audience will quickly lose interest.

Do: Use content pillars to keep your social media presence consistent.

One of the best ways to maintain a strong social media presence is to ensure that your content is consistent with your content pillars. This means posting content on a regular basis and making sure that each piece of content is in line with your overall messaging.

Don't: Let your content pillars become too restrictive.

While content pillars are important for maintaining focus, it's also important to make sure that you don't become too restrictive in what you post. If you find yourself feeling like you can't post anything without it being directly related to your content pillars, it may be time to take a step back and reassess.

By following these simple content pillar tips, you can be sure that your social media content will be more focused, relevant, and engaging than ever before!
